HISTORY.
from eden bore its first creature: a viper unnamed ’til its excommunication from the garden. ’spite its beauty tempted eve the serpent ⸻ envious of her betrothal to adam ⸻ and brought about their shared damnation. alike eve cursed is she promised an eternity, though twice stolen, first spent wandering at the side of fallen angel.
lucifer, scorned, took the creature under wing and gave it her name: iola. so served iola as handmaiden for the centuries to come whilst promised an eventual [ shared ] throne in hell; but even a creature as wicked as she can only withstand so much.
in the sixties, iola formally parted from lucifer to pursue “something mundane” [ another stolen visage / a chosen name: LILIAS ] in greendale. here, she allied herself to the town’s coven and its church, however loosely, and soon fell for its priest. as to lucifer devoted lilias herself to edward, fallen for the guise put forth. the two, as believed by the first witch, shared a love like no other ⸻ bound for something truer than its former binding … and to its dismay strayed edward into the arms of another woman. a mortal woman at that.
devastation wreaked havoc ’pon lilias: driven mad, a creature known best for its grief and rage intertwined, she threw herself to a pride of lions, resulting in her [ temporary ] damnation. a resurrection, however overdue, marked her eventual reunion with lucifer ⸻ renowned by him as MADAM SATAN in spite of their split.
iola lilias now enacts as an individual ’neath this title, a creature most avoidant of its purpose … whether the reigning queen of hell, lucifer’s lover, or playing the part of a bored and boring principal, lilias remains at large.

in late august of 2024, a woman by the name of jolene extends an invitiation to mary winchester from a declining ranch seated in monowi, nebraska; upon meeting, the former confesses herself a married–in campbell wedded to mary’s estranged brother ⸻ and confesses, too, the hardship she alone faces.
it’s decided without joshua that the ranch will be signed over to mary and later repurposed as an american men of letters’ headquarters, replacing the lebanon bunker as its main chapter.
in november 2025, the ranch completes its remodel and begins staffing itself ⸻ hunter majority ⸻ as well as enacting usual business underground.

in late 2013, the winchester’s make the harsh decision to migrate north in search of a community beyond state lines; the women and their two sons manage to travel as far as randolph, virginia without real hardship ⸻ and thus recluse themselves within a false sense of security. it balks the last few miles out of randolph during which a group begins tailing them and eventually intercepts. the exchange ends in death: in joan’s death and in most of the groups’.
meredith, in an effort to preserve herself, allows the remaining two men to evade her, lingering only to lend joan an easier transition. newly widowed and deeply injured, she presses on with their two young sons. they continue moving north but never reach the rumored oceanside, steadily falling victim to what mary fears could be her wife’s murderers.
mary wears herself to the bone, unable to evade who she laters learns are a group of saviors… with a compound she’s promised is safe. she inevitably returns with them to the sanctuary wherein she raises her sons ⸻ and gradually earns herself a seat at negan’s table.

the bsaa seek the men of letters in their final hour of need ⸻ more bodies, more guns, more strength. in exchange, the latter are promised their own lives. new names, new places… a way to start over if not for disaster’s final strike.
amidst the initial raid, the winchester’s are split amongst the bsaa’s invading troops. the sworn reunion dissolves as either troop falls to the village and its mutating occupants with the winchester’s left to survey the remains for one another; the brothers reconvene, in agreement their mother wouldn’t be found with the bsaa.
meredith, however, awakes in a blood–slicked cell with little to no recollection of the events: a pair of others crowd the cell on either side of her, tormenting her almost as much as the lady of the house. it’s from this cell mary gores her way through to alcina ⸻ plucked from therein in a moment’s weakness.

the mourningstar rules just as so: as IOLA, as MADAM SATAN, having entrapped lucifer in as little as a pendant strung about her throat; but the throne and its crown bores and gores the creature bearing them ⸻ queenship’s burden, however longed for, is heavy. so forges iola a court of her children and creation [ a steady growth of mistrusted creatures otherwise dismissed by the angel ] to rule beneath her: for each circle there stands a newly made prince … some demonic, some newly – turned demon, and others a mere figment of iola itself [ another rib broken from her body ].
